Brief history of Pharmacy education in Bangladesh
If we want to know about its history, we have to go back a little and think. The first Pharmacy was taught in 1964 at University of Dhaka. cy Clinical pharmacy University of Dhaka is the first Public University in Bangladesh for B. Pharm (Hons.) course. The faculty of pharmacy at the University of Dhaka has been serving as a model for other progressive pharmacy, particularly in private sectors throughout the country.
In 1964, Pharmacy education started its endless journey under the supervision of Professor Dr. Abdul Jabbar. Firstly, the 3-year Bachelor in Pharmacy course was offered initially to the 24 students. However, later on, complying with the demands of the students, the 3-year B. Pharm. (Hons.) program was upgraded to the 4 year B. Pharm. (Hons.) program.
Nowadays the regulatory bodies of pharmacy education of Bangladesh is Pharmacy council Of Bangladesh(PCB). Which is regulates all kind of statement of Pharmacy education.( In our next article we will discuss about PCB)
